Tagum City’s gigantic Christmas Tree is ready to bring cheers to all Tagumenos and will be lighted on November 18, 2009.

With a pyramid octagon structure, standing a length of 100 feet tall with a dazzling giant star on top, approximately to be covered with
magnificent 1,032 small lanterns in white color that comprises an
estimated 5,060 multi-colored bulbs inside.

Tagum city Mayor, Hon. Rey Uy will be giving a chance to all Tagumenyos to watch the boxing fight between Pacquiao and Cotto this Sunday, November 15, 2009 for FREE!

Yup! You read it right.. FREE! And this will be happening at the Tagum City Cultural and Trade center. Telecast starts at 8:00 am.

Unitop Tagum is now open!

Was at this mall during their soft opening. 3 floors of mostly cheap items.

I’ve had the opptortunity to experience Total Spa here in Tagum.

Aside from the first time to try out the place,  It was also a first for me to try out a new foot spa method where instead of scraping off dead skin from my feet, they used a chemical (i forgot the name) which softens the skin and removes dead skin.

It was better than using sand paper like scarpers (i don’t know what its called).

However, i didn’t like their service. It was like i was an unwanted customer.

The City Tourism Council had initiated another festival this coming month of July designed for all the gays from any point in Mindanao. This will be the first time here in Tagum City that the gays will be the stars for the whole week and this was hailed as the Binuhat Festival that will be staged on July 23 up to 27 this year.

Binuhat Festival is one of the festivals being prepared thoroughly since the start of the year in order to give enjoyment to the people and the opportunity to the gays to show their talents and skills in all sort of activities prepared for them.

Crossing Tagum says NO TO CONASS NOW.

Here’s the reason why.

I was looking for a nice place to have dinner when i chanced upon this restaurant, Kamalig – home of the best Panga ng Tuna.

The place looks nice on the inside. But you won’t notice it right away from a far.

I didn’t have panga ng Tuna. Maybe next time. I ordered:

• Chicken barbeque (P78) – single serving
• Sinigang  Mix (bangus and shrimps) (P95) – good for two
• Garlic Kangkong (P75).

I found out that this is the best chicken barbeque in Tagum (so far). It’s tender, juicy, and tasty.

I felt the garlic kangkong is a bit overpriced as there was nothing “special” about the it plus the fact that the garlic was not crispy. Maybe they can also offer sizzling garlic kangkong in the future. 

It was a first for me to taste bangus and shrimp in a sinigang. And it didn’t work out for me. But my companions loved it.

One of my companions said that Kamalig was once a great place to dine.

Here’s a bit of Kamalig history. Myrla Molina started Kamalig in 1981 with just a few tables. She was very active in the restaurant until her doctor told her to slow down. Early this decade, my sister took over and last year, it’s my turn (Gwen) to manage the restaurant. Myrla, my mother is very much alive, and is part of my “council of elders.”

I would like to suggest that they make the place more lively and “open” so that people passing by will see the beautiful place that they have.

Summer is here! And Tagum City has a way of making your summer filled with fun activities with the Tagum City Summer Sports Festuval!

An eco-adventure and urban challenge promoting the advocacy on the call to care our environment through sports in celebration of the Earth Day, Ocean Month, and Environment Month every April, May and June respectively. The festival is held in the month of May.

One of the usual Dining places here in Tagum is Chiken Ati-Atihan.

Their specialty is of course chicken.. juicy and tasty grilled chicken.

I don’t know why they call it Chicken Ati-atihan.. maybe the owners came from Aklan, home of the ati-atihan festival!

The place looks nice.. Native theme…

I haven’t tasted everything on the menu. But what i can tell you is that aside from the chicken ati-atihan, i love their bihon guisado, Pochero, sizzling blue marlin, and their Halo-halo..

But you should try their halo-halo served in a Buko fruit!

I like their Marketing tag-line ” We didn’t invent Chicken Barbeque, we perfected it!”
